What do you think of the lingerie-inspired trend for summer? So romantic! I like it, but let's not take it too far people. Oh, I just bought a grey silk skirt from Anthropologie similar to the one above (ignore the Edward & Bella, heh).

MAC Paint Pots - Fun for Everyone

Every time I've bought MAC makeup, I actually use it. This unlike all the Clinique free gift stuff I invariably collect.

Just bought this (but do not fear, not in this Blue Man Group color).

I love it, really great on its own or as a base to layer over. Think I'm acting out all my suppressed pre-school painting desires on my face. Sigh. I never did go to pre-school... Anyway, if you are a guy and never experienced the fun that your day could begin with, painting yourself with a brush in the morning like some tribal warrior, you are missing out my friend.

Valentino - The Last Emperor

As soon as the opening credits started and models strutted down the runway in all sorts of flowing, gorgeous, sexy creations to "Bette Davis Eyes," I knew I would like this documentary. Sigh... What can I say? It's just the type of inspirational film I like - no blood, guts, and selling your children, but the message gets across.

The film really is showcasing the relationship between Valentino and his long time partner, Giancarlo Giammetti. There's a total left brain, right brain thing going on here and it becomes extremely evident that Valentino would not be Valentino without Giammetti. I am slightly envious of these artistic beings, allowed to dream and create, never constrained by something so mundane as say, arithmetic.

My favorite line of the film was Valentino critiquing the steps of the Ara Pacis museum: "It looks like a Macy's."

Actually very surprised he knows what the inside of a Macy's looks like. If you haven't seen this documentary or don't know why this quote is funny, I recommend watching it. I don't have to tell you Valentino is a genius and the last of his kind. Truly clothing as an art form. And isn't that the purpose of art, to inspire?
